This seems like a strange thing to post on an Ocean Point blog! This is not your local source of business news, but if this deal pans out, it will affect all of us who have cable TV, internet, and land lines from Time Warner Cable. We had Comcast while in VT and had it for a year or so while in MA before we switched to Verizon FIOS. My only comment about Comcast is they are all pretty much the same, in my humble opinion. Rates are getting higher and higher all the time in spite of technological breakthroughs. One example, remember dial-up internet services? :-) UGH!
"Comcast (CCV) has agreed to pay $158.82 per share of Time Warner Cable (TWC, Fortune 500)
stock, according to two people with direct knowledge of the transaction
who insisted on anonymity because the deal will not be publicly
announced until Thursday morning.
The two companies expect the
merger to receive government approval and take effect by the end of the
year, but regulators are likely to take a close look at the potential
impact on consumers. Through the consolidation of Time Warner Cable,
Comcast would be the dominant provider of television channels and
Internet connections in roughly one in three American homes, a total
unmatched by any other distributor.
The terms of the deal were first reported on Wednesday night by CNBC."
