Everywhere you go in the area people seem to be asking the
same question, when is summer arriving?
Possibly with the start of a new month the weather will
improve.
We have a busy first week of activities here so check the
website for news and updates. I do,
however; want to mention a few special events happening this week, the Ladies
Porch Party on Wednesday at 5:30 hosted by Maureen Driscoll and Kathy Lindley.
Friday morning the first of our Pancake Breakfasts will occur from 8:30-10:00
with Alex Hall and her crew treating us to some delicious pancakes.
A very special meeting of the OPCT will take place at 4:30 Friday afternoon at the Casino. Plan on attending this all-important event, as some key decisions will be presented to the community and will require a vote.
The Horribles Parade will happen Saturday morning on Van
Horn Rd. beginning at 9:30 followed by the softball game.
Later that evening the Chicken Barbecue will begin at
6:30,please bring a salad or side dish to share, utensils and your beverage of
choice. Tickets are on sale through the website or you may call Donna Logan for
more details at 633-7202. Matt Lindley is chair of the cooking committee and
promises some new recipes as well as traditional chicken.
Rev. Wesley A Smith, American Baptist Churches, USA (Ret.)
will conduct Sunday Services at the Wilson Chapel on July 7 beginning at
9:30,all are Welcome.
Along with our usual weekly activities several special
events will take place the week of the 7th. On July 10 a Pasta
Dinner is planned by the Slayton ladies at 6:30 in the evening and the first
Bake Sale is on Friday July 12 at 9:30,please bring your food items to the
Casino by 9:00. Donna Logan and Patty Smith-Gardiner are organizing the sale.
The Memorial Tournament is Saturday July 13 and more
information regarding this event will be forthcoming by Link Brown. Later that
evening the Browns, Danas and Whitehouses will host the Porch Party.
As you see it’s quite a busy summer, as always check the
website for calendar updates and changes.
Thank you to John Garrant for making the beautiful new sign
at the Grimes Cove parking lot and to Ann Hussey-Hogaboom and Alison
Butterworth for planting the flowers in the window boxes at the Casino, they do
add lovely color and cheer to our building. Ann also planted the flowers at the
Memorial Land.
Congratulations to Michael Slayton who recently graduated
from Georgia Tech. Michael is here for a good part of the summer and is working
in the Boston area.
Jake and Leah Fischer are here with beautiful new baby Elle
to enjoy some vacation time.
I love the 4th of July here at the Point as so
many families get together for this holiday celebration. All of the Dana girls
are here visiting Robert and Cookie, Kate from Colorado and Liz from
Connecticut along with sister Jen and husband Dave and their new addition,
adorable James Robert.
The Hall family is all gathered together Alex, her brother
Dick and Dick’s children Kristen, Meghan and Will as well as grandchildren
Orlando, Billy and Charlie.
Kristan and Dan Densmore and daughter Elle are visiting Jack
and Georgia Chambers.
Happy 4th of July!
