Obituary for Marian L. Hussey HALLOWELL, MAINE Marian L. Hussey – age 93, of Balsam Drive, and formerly a longtime resident of Bangor Street in Augusta, Maine, died December 4, 2018 in Augusta. She was born on August 27, 1925 in Augusta, Maine the daughter of Alton T. Littlefield and Pauline (Harthorn) Littlefield. Mrs. Hussey graduated from Cony High School in 1943, and attended the University of Maine at Orono. While there, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. In 1947, she graduated from Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston. She married Leroy F. Hussey, Jr. on August 23, 1947. This summer, they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hussey was a member of South Parish Congregational Church United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild of South Parish Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Kennebec Valley Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a Life member of the Kennebec Historical Society. Known affectionately as “Mamie” by her grandchildren, she loved spending time with her family, her many summers at Ocean Point, and tending her gardens. She was predeceased by a son, Robert L. Hussey on July 4, 2003. Surviving is her husband, Leroy F. Hussey, Jr. of Hallowell, ME; one daughter, Ann Hussey Hogaboom and husband Richard of Hopkinton, MA; one son, Richard P. Hussey and wife Eileen of East Winthrop, ME; daughter-in-law, Mimi Hussey of Rockport, ME; one sister, Elizabeth (Littlefield) Sprague and her husband William of Boothbay Harbor, ME; eight grandchildren: Sarah Hussey Chogule and husband Nikhilesh of Cary, NC, Aaron Hussey of Augusta, ME, Sarah Wade Gagne and husband Michael of Rockport, ME, Scott Hogaboom of Greenville, RI, Brendan Hogaboom of Chicago, IL, Zachary Hussey of Rockland, ME, Luke Hussey of East Winthrop, ME, and Anna Hussey of East Winthrop, ME; one great-granddaughter, Charlize Chogule; and two nieces and one nephew. There are no visiting hours and no funeral services scheduled. A graveside service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta, in the spring of 2019.
