Ocean Point Column
May 4,2017
By Maryellen Bertrand

Ocean Point is beginning to come alive as residents return to open for the season; town businesses closed for winter are reopening as well. I noted the reopening of Harborside Tavern in last week’s column and I will repeat that information in this week’s column.  Harborside will open on Thursday May 4 serving dinner only. Then on Friday May 5th lunch and dinner will be served and on Saturday and Sunday May 6 and 7 breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available. Harborside Tavern will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for the month of May serving lunch and dinner Wednesday through Friday only. However, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be offered on weekends in May.

The Ocean Point Inn is preparing for their reopening Memorial Day weekend serving dinner on Friday evening May 26. The crew was out there this past weekend putting finishing touches on the buildings and the grounds.

This is the season for graduations; Both Beckett Slayton and Alex rush will graduate from their high Schools. Beckett Slayton son of Bob and Ann Slayton will attend Bowdoin College in the fall and Alex Rush son of Mark and Flor Rush will attend the University of Virginia. Jeff and Mary Hankinson’s son Stephen is graduating from Rutgers Medical School and will begin his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore for the next 3 years. Congratulation to all of the graduates, we wish you great success in your future endeavors.

Hattie Slayton will spend her junior year of high school studying in Spain.

Liz and Dick Colten travelled to Milan Italy recently to visit with their son Gerry and their grandsons and then enjoyed a cruise down the Rhine River ending their trip in Amsterdam. They hope to be back at the Point soon.

Have a great week!
