Barbara Ripley
Barbara “Lee” “Honey” Ripley, 93, formerly of
Wellesley, Massachusetts, died Aug. 31, 2016 at St. Andrews Village in
Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Lee was born Dec. 13, 1922 in Cambridge,
Massachusetts to Harold and Gladys (Semons) Leland. She graduated from
Belmont High School in the class of 1941. She attended Cushing Academy
in 1942 and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston
in 1943.
She worked as a secretary over the years at Taylor,
Granson, Perin of Boston, American Red Cross in Washington, D.C.,
Harvard College, and at Wellesley Middle School in the Media Department.
She was a member of the Wellesley Congregational Church.
Lee enjoyed needlework and spending time with her
grandchildren. Lee and her family have been part of the Ocean Point
Community in East Boothbay, Maine for over 40 years. Lee was the wedding
coordinator for the Wilson Memorial Chapel at Ocean Point for many
years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Ripley Jr., who died Aug. 8, 2013.
Lee is survived by her sons, Leland G. Ripley of
Washington State, David L. Ripley and his wife Pamela of Porter, Texas
and Peter B. Ripley and his wife Mary of East Boothbay; five
grandchildren, Christian D. Ripley of Seattle,Washington, Scott B.
Ripley of St. Petersburg, Florida, Nicholas M. Ripley of East Boothbay,
Amanda R. Ripley of Norristown, Pennsylvania, and Victoria D. Ripley of
Windham, Maine.
A private family burial service will be held at
Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay. A Memorial Service to celebrate Lee’s
life will be announced in the spring of 2017. Contributions in Lee’s
memory may be made to Wilson Memorial Chapel, c/o Alan Johnson, P.O. Box
291, East Boothbay, ME 04544.
