As the month moves forward there appears to be more activity
around Ocean Point.
The Ocean Point Inn crew is sprucing up for a Memorial Day
weekend opening including the dining room. Michelle will be back behind the bar
and we’ll be excited to see Meghan Stevens returning to take over on Michelle’s
days off.
The dinghy dock and the raft have been installed in
anticipation of the upcoming boating season.
Graduation and awards season is upon us and several Ocean
Pointers have completed their course of study or received an award for academic
excellence. Kate Dana is graduating from
the Accelerated Nursing Program at the University of New England. Kate was
recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in Nursing.
Liz Dana completed her sophomore year at UConn and received
the New England Scholar Award for a grade point average of 3.7 or higher and
was inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology.
Melanie Slayton graduated from James Madison University in
Virginia earning a Master’s degree in Accounting. Melanie will begin working at
KPMG in September and is currently studying for her final 2 CPA exams.
Michael Slayton completed his coop-engineering job with
Mizuno and will be studying at Oxford in England this summer as part of Georgia
Tech’s educational program abroad.
Caroline Kern will begin her graduate studies at Yale
University in the fall as she pursues a career as a midwife. Congratulations to
all of these individuals as we wish them great success in their future
endeavors.
The Hamblett Family has been busy this season participating
in and attending lacrosse games in several states. Lincoln and Helen Hamblett
both play for Boothbay and were in North Berwick for a game last weekend, the
same weekend cousin Phoebe Parker was playing for Portsmouth High and Silas
Hamblett was playing for Eliot. On Sunday 17 members of the family travelled to
Brookline MA to watch Devon Parker play for Syracuse in the NCAA Division 1
second round match against Stoney Brook. Syracuse prevailed 7-6 and will move
on to a quarterfinal match at Syracuse against USC, best of luck to Devon and
her teammates.
Have a great week!
