Ocean Point Column Feb.18

Ocean Point Column
February 18,2016
By Maryellen Bertrand

As I begin this week’s column we are experiencing the first sub zero temperatures of the season with the promise of a warm up by Tuesday.

Despite the record breaking temperatures we are constantly reminded by our Ocean Point photographers of the continuous and ever changing beauty of the Point.  Sue Goodrich posted some amazing photos of the Point on the blog last week, which resulted in some great feedback by readers, thanks Sue for keeping us mindful of how fortunate we all are. Rusty Court and Julie Brown have also provided some wonderful photos as well for which we are grateful, so thank you.

The Boothbay Register features some great photos of the downtown in the off-season so please check those also.

Suzie and Pete Hamblett vacationed in Treasure Cay Bahamas for 2 weeks which is located in the Abacos, a favorite vacation spot of Ann Smith and Barb and Pete Newell. Suzie and Pete found the beauty, tranquility and hospitality of the Bahamian people to be delightful.
Suzie was happy to report that she and Pete were currently experiencing sunny and warm temperatures in Jupiter Florida.

Pete and Barbara Newell have just returned from a 3-week vacation in Southeast Asia with her sister Suzanne and husband Mike Carr. They visited Singapore for a few days before boarding the Vollendam for a 2 week cruise to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Hong Kong where they disembarked for an additional 3 day stay. Joining them on the cruise were Ann Smith and Mary Kaler.
Pete had been in Vietnam back in the late 60’s and was astonished by all of the changes to the area over the years.

Whatever your February vacation plans may be this week, enjoy!
