Ocean Pointers who are wintering in warmer climates may be
interested to know that here in New England, including the Boothbay Region; we
are experiencing our second coastal snowstorm in just a matter of days. A foot
of snow fell last Friday and today’s storm predicts the same amount of
accumulation. Unfortunately the
mountains have not been as fortunate and so we are skiing on mostly man made
snow. I’m sure our Ocean Point photographers will be posting some beautiful
pictures of the storm on the blog.
Despite the disappointing outcome of the AFC championship
game many Ocean Pointers gathered with family and friends to enjoy the Super
Bowl. Jean and John Webster travelled to Cape Elizabeth to watch the game with
John’s siblings, nieces and nephews along with 3 year old Teddy and the dogs,
apparently the dogs enjoyed the game as much as the adults including the food.
Congratulations to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on their championship
season.
I was saddened to read of the death of William “Hooker”
Holbrook last week. Hooker grew up on Ocean Point Road and spent many summers
around the Point, he could often be seen riding in his jeep along Shore Road.
Hooker most recently repaired our flagpole at the ball field that had snapped
in half after a storm, our condolences to his children and grandchildren.
This is the final opportunity to complete the Future
Planning Survey which can be found on the website. Please take a moment to complete
this important activity. As a reminder you may download a hard copy and send it
to the P.O. box in East Boothbay if you prefer. Thank you to those who have
already participated.
Have a great week!
