Ocean Point Column
May 7,2015
By Maryellen Bertrand
Ocean Point is coming alive once again; the temperatures
have improved, the daffodils are in bloom and slowly but surely residents are
returning.
It was great to see Jean Slayton who reports that she and
her family are all doing well. Her grandson Michael just completed his freshman
year at Georgia Tech and will be working at the East Boothbay General Store for
the summer. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the progress of Jeff and Barb’s new
home as well as their frequent visits. Grandson Beckett is busy playing
baseball and granddaughter Hattie is busy building a rowboat, a requirement for
her graduation.
Sharon Gleason was visiting the Point over her spring break
and she, Joanne Demers and Jean Slayton all drove to Camden to visit with Grace
Ryder and have an enjoyable lunch together.
News from Lanny Whitehouse is that his recovery from heart
surgery is going quite well and he is looking forward to being on the golf
course very soon. He and Leslie wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to
all who expressed their well wishes and concern these past few weeks,
It is exciting to see the East Boothbay General Store return
to a 7-day opening after a very long winter. Don’t forget to stop in for a coffee,
sandwich or one of the many delicious sweets Liz offers. We are so fortunate to
have her store in such close proximity and we do appreciate the convenience it
provides to us. Several Ocean Pointers will be employed at the store for the
upcoming season.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great week!
