Ocean Point Column Nov.6
By Maryellen Bertrand
As I begin to write this week’s column I have just received
sad news that Fred McIntyre has passed away. As many of you know Fred was the
Superintendent of the East Boothbay Water District for many years before his
retirement. After his retirement Fred spent his days working with pottery and
produced many lovely pieces, Fred was a kind, gentle and talented man who loved
his job and Ocean Point. Our condolences to his wife Corrine and to their children,
stepchildren and grandchildren, a memorial service will be held in early June.
at the Wilson Memorial Chapel.
I had a nice chat with Pat Waldman who is recovering from
surgery and is looking forward to getting around a little easier and with a lot
less pain; She reports that John is busy preparing for winter. I know that they
both keep very busy with all of their outside interests and activities,
I have received several emails regarding the proposed
construction of a cell tower on Ocean Point. I know that there are valid
concerns on both sides of this issue so if you do have a concern; Brad Betts
has suggested that you contact him. Brad has also posted the information on the
OP blog as well as his contact information.
Earlier this fall, Diane Eakin and Pam Nolan hosted a
birthday celebration for a few Ocean Point ladies celebrating a milestone.
Belated Happy Birthday to Danielle Scruton, Leslie Whitehouse and Joyce
Richter.
Great news, the Boston Red Sox have won the World
Series.!!!! I’m sure I speak for all of OP Red Sox Nation (and there are many
of us) when I say how thrilled and excited we are for the team. It was a long
season and a great series.
Thanks to all who have sent news, keep it coming.
