Ocean Point Column

Belated Happy New Year to all! I do hope that your holidays were full of happiness and joy.
I truly enjoyed hearing from so many of you during the holiday season, thank you.

As many of you do, I am determined to stick to my many New Year resolutions and so far I am successful. One resolution I did make to myself was to write as many columns through the winter as possible and so to that end I’m hoping that you will assist in making that true. Please send me your news whatever it may be: special occasions, milestones, your children, grandchildren, travel plans, family reunions, Ocean Point reunions etc. Personally I enjoy hearing what Ocean Pointers are doing in the off-season as it somehow keeps us all connected in our absence.

Georgia Chambers sent along news that she and Jack were downsizing in Florida and hoped to move to a new condo in February. Daughter, Kristan son in law Dan and granddaughter Ellie spent time in Australia recently and Georgia and Jack were house-sitting in their absence.

In one of my last columns of 2018 I mentioned that the tree near what is now two trees was completely uprooted in a storm that resulted in loss of power to the Point. It turns out that the tree was on Peter and Patty Gardner’s property and did some damage to their house. Patty reports that Linc Brown and Eric Lorrain were instrumental in helping them out, she and Peter are very grateful to them for their assistance and to all our year round residents for their watchful eyes.

At our Annual Meeting back in August our AD Nick Arno thanked all of us for a successful summer and looked forward to his return this upcoming season. That has changed; I was informed that Nick and his wife Karen have moved to North Carolina and so he will not be returning as our AD. We wish them both lots of luck and happiness in their new endeavor.

An AD search committee has been formed headed by Ginna Yerrall and assisted by myself, Alex Hall, Liz Dawson and Maureen Driscoll to find a new AD. If you or someone you know has a candidate who is interested in the position please reach out to one of us. The job description and application process will be posted on the website very soon.

I recently heard from Marilyn Steane; she and Jim are looking forward to their return to Ocean Point in July.

Ocean Point Patriots fans are very excited to be competing in the AFC Championship once again and look forward to a possible win in Kansas City and of course a return to the Super bowl in Atlanta, Go Pats!

Have a great week!
