Ocean Point Column
October 26,,2017
By Maryellen Bertrand

It’s always difficult to begin a column with sad news; Ocean Point has lost another member of its community. Barbara Stockwell passed away suddenly last week at her home in Beverly, Massachusetts. Barbara, her late husband Don and their 4 children were residents of the Ocean Point Community for many many summers.
Barbara loved a good round of golf, a competvite tennis match and vacationing at Ocean Point with her family and friends. Barbara will be remembered for her fun spirit, her winning smile and her devotion to family and friends. Our condolences to Barbara’s 4 children Susan, Todd, Kim and Holly, their spouses Jimmy Gomes, Mark Andrews and Melinda Stockwell as well as her 10 grandchildren Andrew, Allison, Daniel, Conor, Riley, Abby, Emma, Taylor, Matthew and Ella.

A memorial service was held on September 30 at the Wilson Chapel for longtime resident Charlon Clark who passed away on August 31. Charlon and her late husband Stan and their children Bayard, Brooks and daughter Cathryn Salmon also vacationed for many summers at Ocean Point. Charlon was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Charlon loved music, the beauty of Ocean Point and her many summer friends, our condolences to her son Brooks, his wife Tina and their son Andrew as well as her daughter Cathryn, husband Michael and their daughter Charlotte.

On a happier note Dave and Pat McHold have become new grandparents, their daughter Mattie Byrd and her spouse are pleased to announce the birth of their baby daughter Parker Marion born October 10 weighing 7 ½ lbs. Congratulations to all of the McHold Family and Rist Family of Northhampton, Ma.

It appears that Ocean Point is experiencing a mini baby boom as several of our younger residents are expecting their first child within the next several months, an exciting time for our community.

The weather continues to be somewhat balmy so do enjoy and please keep in touch with your news. Have a great week!
