Ocean Point Column
Aug.31, 2017
By Maryellen Bertrand
Can you believe that Labor Day is here? It seems not too
long ago that we were all arriving for the summer, how quickly time has passed.
A sure sign that things are coming to a close is the declining
number of boats from their moorings and the quiet of Grimes Cove and Shore
Road.
If you are headed home please don’t forget the Food Pantry.
The box for donations is located on the Casino porch. Liz Colten is monitoring
this effort and will deliver to the Food Pantry as needed.
Several Ocean Pointers have been enjoying the great weather
of late. Susan (Ross) and Luke Anderson were vacationing with Gail Ross for the
week. Gail will once again host the Ross/Martin family reunion shortly after
her brother Chris arrives.
Bruce and Ellen Turpie were here with their family for a
short stay as were Tom, Alexa, Brendan and John McGonegal; Ben Ford also spent
some time at the Point.
Alex and Dick Hall are back for the remaining days of August,
as is Katy Brownell.
Earlier this month the Pike Family spent several days
together; Dottie, Betsy Pike O’Keefe and her husband Rich and daughter Melissa,
David and Sharon Pike and Cheryl Pike. The Pike’s summered for many years in
what is now the home of Linda and Suzette Gill.
Their cousin David Ripley and his wife Pam enjoyed some
vacation time away from the heat of Texas.
The last service of the season will be held at the Chapel on
Sunday September 3;Rev. Cannon John Mitman (Ret.) of the Episcopal Church will
conduct the service. All are welcome!
