Ocean Point Column
May 25,2017
By Maryellen Bertrand
Those of us fortunate enough to be at the Point this past
weekend were treated with truly spectacular weather, bright blue skies, calm
seas and plenty of sunshine; a recipe for a great weekend.
The floats have been towed to the dock and are waiting to be
reconnected and boats are beginning to reappear on their moorings. The Inn is
scheduled to reopen on Friday May 26 for dinner and breakfast will be served
beginning Saturday; the East Boothbay General Store is now open on Sundays.
There is
important news regarding the defibrillator that hung at the Casino; it has been
moved to the Inn in order to accommodate both Ocean Pointers and Inn guests in
the event it is needed. The defibrillator will be installed just outside the
lobby door next to the vending machines.
Tom McGonegal has turned on the Wi-Fi at the Casino for
those who need access to the Internet; Tom cautions everyone that it is not a
secured site.
Tom and Tish shared a joyful occasion with their family
recently; their grandson Brendan received his first Holy Communion. Brendan is
the son of Tom and Alexa.
After a challenging winter for Jean and John Webster they
also shared some happy events; three of their grandchildren recently graduated.
Ethan graduated from George Washington University, his sister Nicole graduated
from Pierce High School in Dallas and will be attending the University of
Kansas majoring in Art. Nicole was selected as a top ten emerging artist in the
Dallas area. Both Ethan and Nicole are the children of Stephen and Theresa
Webster.
Their cousin
Ava has graduated from Kirkwood High School in St. Louis and will enter Tulane
University in the fall. Ava was Editor in chief of her high school yearbook.
Ava is the daughter of Kim (Webster) and Michael Godsy.
Kelsey Bennett graduated from The University of New England
receiving her Master’ Degree in Occupational Therapy with inter-professional
education honors distinction.
Congratulations to all of our Ocean Point graduates who have
accomplished so much in such a short time.
Please plan on attending our Town Hall Meeting on Sunday May
28 beginning at 4. Nick Arno our new AD and his wife Karen will be here to meet
Ocean Pointers so come a bit early to introduce yourself.
I hope to see many of you this weekend, travel safe and have
a great week!
