Ocean Point Column
October 20,2016
By Maryellen Bertrand
The Columbus Day weekend saw many Ocean Pointers back for
one last visit preparing their homes for the winter season. We experienced beautiful weather on
Saturday and Monday of the holiday weekend with rainy conditions on Sunday.
Matt Lindley would like to thank all those who assisted him
in bringing in the outside equipment around the Casino; Dave Kern, Jim Rush and
sons Kevin and Kyle, Jonathan and Luke Yerrall and Zach and Luke Arnpriester.
If you were fortunate enough to return this past weekend,
the weather was spectacular. Due to the full Hunter’s Moon we were treated to
an especially high tide with pounding surf along Shore Road. Thanks to the BRWD
for providing seasonal water customers the additional week.
Unfortunately we have lost another long time Ocean Pointer,
I am sad to report that Ed Cassano past away on October 11. Ed and his wife
Char spent over 50 summers at Ocean Point until a few years ago. While at Ocean
Point Ed and Char loved to attend jazz performances throughout the area. Ed
will be remembered for his great smile and his wonderful storytelling. Our
sympathy to family members, sister Marylew, his 7 children and their spouses,
11 grandchildren and several great grand children, our thoughts and prayers are
with them and especially Jay, Maureen, Kelsey and Brendan Bennett.
The McGonegal Family has asked me to mention their sincere
gratitude for all the support, prayers and love that they have received while
mourning the death of Michael.
Although the season is over for many of us, the region will
be full of activities in the next coming months. We hope to take advantage of
many of them and hope that you will as well. Several shops, restaurants and
lodging facilities will remain open during this time.
Please keep in touch with your news in the months ahead,
have a great week!
