It’s amazing how quickly the summer has passed; this is the final week of activities here, as the Casino will close Friday evening at 9:00. Ginny Kern will be busy packing equipment away and cleaning the facility.

Unfortunately for all of us Ginny has announced that she will not return next summer. She has been with us for 5 years and in that time has worked diligently to assure an amazing program of activities. We will all miss her but know that she will be returning to vacation at Ocean Point with her family in the years ahead.

Sue Clark had a wonderful turn out for her walking tour on Friday as she took us back to the beginnings of Ocean Point. With her book,” Past Images of Ocean Point” in hand Sue led the group through an historic yet light-hearted account of days gone by at Ocean Point. Sue plans another tour next summer starting at Grimes Cove. Her beautiful book is available at the Ocean Point Inn and East Boothbay General Store.

Congratulations to Annie Fischer and Matt Berg who were married this past Saturday. Many of Annie’s childhood Ocean Point friends were in attendance for the joyful event.

The Sunday softball game resulted in Team Bertrand losing to Team Plummer 14-10. Daniel Anderson and Joe Shea both hit home runs for the winning team and Dan Shea had a home run for the Bertrand team.

The Annual Meeting of the Ocean Point Colony Trust was well attended this past Saturday.  We all gathered to vote on the proposed changes to the by-laws as well as to decide if we would move forward with design plans for our aging facilities. Both measures passed unanimously. The new slate of officers was also approved: President Matt Lindley, Vice President Mike Anderson, Treasurer Jen Klein, Secretary Maryellen Bertrand and new Board members Lanny Whitehouse and Liz Holland. New to the nominating committee, George Yerrall

Rev. Thomas Kerr, Retired United Methodist Minister North Georgia Conference, will hold Sunday Services on August 28 at the chapel. All are welcome.

The Directors of the Boothbay Region Health Care Inc. are holding an open forum regarding their new health center on Thursday Aug. 25 at the Harbor Theatre in the Meadow Mall at 2:00;all are invited.

We have experienced a few incidents over the course of the last few weeks of items missing from residents’ yards and at the Chapel.  I am sad to report that one of those items is the window box in front of the Chapel, taken twice. The Lincoln County Sheriffs Office has been notified and all residents as well as visitors to our area are asked to report anything suspicious taking place.

Another reminder to donate your canned goods to the Food Pantry, the box is located at the Casino.

Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great week!
