Ocean Point Column

We were greeted
with an April fool’s joke Sunday morning here in the Northeast when we awoke to
several inches of snow, gusty winds and below normal temperatures! A welcome surprise
for the ski areas, however, not so for blooming spring flowers.
Ski areas here in the northeast experienced a rather mild
winter with mostly man made conditions. That was not the case in the west where
after five years of drought Connie Saindon was able to ski several times with
friends at Mammoth Mountain with plenty of natural snow and near perfect
conditions. Connie was kind enough to email me some spectacular pictures of the
mountain that has an elevation of over 11,000 feet, the highest summit in
California.
Holly Hornor had a wonderful February vacation in California
visiting San Diego and staying with friends and then traveling to Fallbrook to
visit old school friends. From there Holly went on to Hilary and Nick’s home in
Topanga to spend time with them and her grandchildren. Holly reports that the
Boynton’s are all thriving in their new home and love living in the warm California
climate.
While there, she had dinner with Janice Libby and Wendy Way
at Hilary’s home which she thoroughly enjoyed. Holly is currently recuperating
from knee replacement surgery and hopes to be walking Shore Road this summer.
Sue Clark is experiencing an enormous response from her
newly published book, “Past Images of Ocean Point Maine”, which is now
available at the East Boothbay General Store. Sue will be featured at a book
signing at the OP Casino on July 3 from 12-2 P.M. and is expecting to have a
book talk later in the summer, the date and time to be announced. For those not
currently in the area you can order the book directly from Sue at latitude43designs@hotmail.com
or call her at 207-998-9169.
Let’s hope spring returns soon!!!!! Have a great week.
