Ocean Point seasonal residents will be returning shortly as
the Boothbay Water District is working diligently to get seasonal water
customers up and running, I hope that by the time you all read this we will be
fully operational, thank you to the BRWD once again for your efforts.
While we briefly lapsed in to colder than normal
temperatures the past few weeks Doreen and Jim Dun were enjoying the warmer
weather and sunshine of Sanibel Island, Florida. Joining them for a visit were
Alec and Kelly and their children Mallie and Liam as well as Catherine and Hugh’s
daughter Julia and their good friend Nancy Adams from Farnham Point. Doreen,
Jim and their guests enjoyed biking, swimming and viewing the birds in the
Darling Preserve as they experienced near perfect weather every day.
Jean and John Webster, Carol and Dick Palmer and Dave and Pat
McHold enjoyed an evening out for dinner and the theatre in Portland recently
to see the production “My Name Is
Asher Lev”, a new off-Broadway play that has been given great reviews.
Lanny and Leslie Whitehouse celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary at a surprise party given in their honor by their son Matt
and his partner Denise, and son Jim and daughter in law Kelly. Many family
members and friends were there to help Lanny and Leslie celebrate their milestone
including Ocean Point friends the Danas and the Browns, congratulations to a
very special couple.
Congratulations also to Denise Griffin who was named Vice
President Human Resources Officer for the First National Bank.
Are you familiar with Geocaching? I was not until someone at Ocean Point brought it to my
attention; I understand it is simply a treasure hunt for a hidden object in a
cache using GPS coordinates.
Apparently Geocaching is currently in operation at Ocean Point in
several locations. One cache washed up on shore after a recent storm and inside
was a notebook containing the names of several Ocean Pointers with the first
entry dated September 19,2014. If you are interested in joining there is a Geocaching
website with all the information you need to get started.
Exciting news for Linekin Bay Resort and the residents of
Ocean Point; the property was purchased by Scott Larsen of Newagen and Ocean
Point and Steve Malcolm of the Knickerbocker Group. Their plan is to completely
renovate the resort over the next few years including expanding the dock area
to accommodate those who wish to come by boat to the resort. Many of us at
Ocean Point enjoy the view from the resort side of the bay for lunch and dinner
especially on a beautiful summer day.
Have a great week!
