Ocean Point Column Jan.7

Ocean Point Column

Happy New Year to everyone, I do hope that your holidays were enjoyable. The weather certainly cooperated for most of us as far as shopping and travelling was concerned.
Jean and John Webster spent the holidays in Texas with son Steven and his wife Theresa and their children Nicole and Eathan. There daughter Kim and her husbance Michal and granddaughters Grace and Ava travelled from St. Louis to join them. Texas was experiencing heavy rain at the time not far from where Steven and his family live. Despite the weather they thoroughly enjoyed their family gathering exchanging gifts and taking in the new Star Wars movie. On the trip back to St Louis Kim and her family hit rough weather all along the route but managed to arrive home safely.

Sadly Ocean Point has lost another resident. Jeff Coates passed away suddenly on December 22;our condolences to his daughters Amy Arnpriester, husband Greg and their children Zach and Luke and to Amy’s sister Jennifer Torigan and her husband Tim and daughters Nicole and Amanda. Donations are kindly accepted in Jeff’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.

On a brighter note congratulations to Barbara Maloney who was sworn in recently as Circuit Court Judge in Stratford County New Hampshire by current Governor Maggie Hassan. Rick and Barbara had a wonderful visit in October with their 3 children in Minneapolis to meet their newest granddaughter, Monica. Over Christmas their son Josh, his wife Maya and their children June, Caedmon and Monica travelled east to be with Rick and Barbara for the holiday and then spent the week at Ocean Point.

Congratulations to all of the Ocean Pointers as well as the many others who participated in the annual Penguin Plunge on New Year’s Day. The cable channel provided a great video of the event that can be seen on the blog thanks to Tom McGonegal. It looks as though the temperatures have taken a slight dip in January; yet everyone seemed to be enjoying the event.

You may also enjoy the aerial video of the harbor taken on New Year’s Eve by BRCTV that Tom posted on the blog; it is certainly worth viewing.

Thanks to all who sent news for the column this past month. I know how hectic this time of year can be so I truly appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules.
Have a happy and healthy 2016!
