Ocean Point Column Dec.17

Unseasonable like temperatures coupled with bright sunny skies prompted Will and I to make a quick trip to Ocean Point and Boothbay this past weekend for some shopping and holiday cheer.
Despite the fact that the streets were relatively quiet of foot traffic the eating establishments were quite busy and there were plenty of special activities going on in and around town.

The Gingerbread Spectacular was held at the Opera House and was well attended.    Although we did not make it all the way through the exhibit we did see some of the entries, so clever and creative. Sue Goodrich posted many of the houses on the blog so be sure to check it out, as always thank you for your input Sue. The Gardens Aglow was also taking place and people are raving about the fabulous display of lights.

For those who have not been to the area since October, the golf course has a new look, the old clubhouse is no longer there and the new clubhouse is quickly taking shape.

The Point was quiet with just a spattering of people out walking Shore Road or sitting in their cars enjoying the view. There is a beautiful wreath hung on the chapel making it quite festive and John King has his Christmas tree made of buoys outside his house ready for the holiday.

We had a wonderful visit with Jean Slayton who is awaiting the arrival of her children and grandchildren for Christmas, as are Sue and Bob Goodrich. I’m sure many of you will be spending time enjoying the holiday with family and friends as well.
