Ocean Point Column Nov.25

Ocean Point Column

This past week’s events in Paris were both horrific and very sad. I’m sure we all felt a great sense of uneasiness and anxiety as we listened and watched the news unfold.  Ocean Point resident Krista Irmischer was in Paris when all of the bloodshed took place. She was there for a conference and staying just 2 miles from the shootings. Earlier that evening Krista wandered over to where the concert was to take place and mingled for a while with concertgoers before leaving to go to dinner. She got lost coming back from dinner and ended up on the street where more shootings occurred. Although she did not see or hear anything back at her hotel she was receiving texts from friends informing her of what was happening.  Krista immediately changed her flight and was able to return home on Saturday where, I am happy to report, she is safe and sound. Not an experience she is able to forget anytime soon I’m sure. So glad you are safe, Krista.

Jim Anagnost was honored at the Patriots/Giants game on Nov. 15 at halftime for his bravery and service during WW11; the ceremony was part of the NFL’s Salute to Veterans. Jim has been a long time friend of NFL Hall of Famer Jim Carson, linebacker for the NY Giants, who arranged for the special tribute to Jim. Jim was seen on the video screens throughout the stadium as his awards and accomplishments were announced to the crowd. Jim personally met and was congratulated by Commissioner Roger Godell, Giants owner John Mara, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Coach Bill Belichick, singer Jon Bon Jovi, Medal of Honor Recipient Florent Groberg as well as many of the Patriots and Giants players. What a thrill for Jim and a well-deserved recognition for his heroics and bravery during the war, congratulations, Jim.

David Butterworth recently played a round of golf at a course in Hilton Head and was paired with a couple originally from the Boston area. In the small world department it turns out that they were friends with Ginny and Jim Rush and had vacationed at Ocean Point many times in the past.

Gail Ross has had a busy fall working with her local high school to produce their fall musical. She and all of the Ross Family will gather at Chris and Marilyn’s home for Thanksgiving.
The Dun/ Colten Family will gather at Jim and Doreen’s for their festivities and the Hamblett Family will spend their traditional Thanksgiving day at Jen and Scott Parker’s playing touch football and ending with a fiercely competitive game of bean bag.

Thank you Rusty Court for the amazing photo posted on the blog. Once again we are reminded of how grateful and thankful we are to be living in such a beautiful place!

Enjoy your holiday with family and friends, Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Congratulations to Jim Anagnost for his big day - what a guy - I hope they mentioned all his hole-in-ones!
