Ocean Point Column
October 8,2015
By Maryellen Bertrand
Things are certainly quiet at the Point, I’m sure that the
weather of last week sent people home.
The float is out at Grimes Cove, moorings are almost empty and cottages
are going into winter mode. We should, however, see an influx of people for the
long holiday weekend.
Tom McGonegal would like you all to know that the Wi-Fi will
be turned off Monday October 12 at noontime. Thanks to Tom for coordinating the
use and up keep of the Wi Fi at the Casino all season.
Liz Colten continues to maintain the Food Pantry box at the
Casino, please drop off any unused food items as you leave.
Card Cove Association will hold their annual meeting on
Saturday October 10 beginning at 4:00 P.M. at the Casino.
Although many of us are heading to our winter homes, two
couples will join our Ocean Point winter residents next week. Pat and Dave
McHold have sold their home in Maryland and are living here and Marilyn and
Jack Heise are in the process of moving from Chicago. Sally and Allen Johnson
hosted a “welcome to full time in Maine “ gathering for the McHolds recently in
celebration of their move.
Once again there is sad news regarding a long time Ocean
Pointer and neighbor, Joe Merton. Joe died Oct. 1 at the age of 93 at his home
in East Longmeadow. Our sincerest condolences to Joe’s wife Jean and his
children Jody and his wife Jennifer and Charlotte and her husband Jack and his
4 grandchildren Julia, Catherine, John and Christine and 3 great grandchildren.
Joe certainly loved sitting on the porch with Jean enjoying Ocean Point and the
beautiful view.
I hope to see many of you one final time over the holiday
weekend either at the Point or the Fair at the Railway Village. Have a
wonderful winter and a safe trip home to your winter residence.
Have a great week!!
