October 1,2015
By Maryellen Bertrand
September has been a spectacular month weather-wise with
numerous activities occurring in and around town. Harborfest, the Clawdown and
the Charities Classic Golf Tournament have all been held this past month.
Congratulations to Ben Betts who was voted best music at the Harborfest. Ben
has been busy performing at the Farmer’s Market and Rocktide all summer and
into the fall.
Tony Krason and
his committee provided another successful Charities Classic Golf Tournament. The
winning team, with a score of 18 under par, were Ocean Pointers Dan Shea and
Will Bertrand along with team members Matt Bellisle, Shane Stewart and Hall of
Famer Roger Wehrli of the St Louis Cardinals.
Link Brown and Lanny Whitehouse generously gave their time
to assist at the tournament.
Congratulations to Jason Plummer and Ashley Long on the
birth of their son Colin Gerald born August 18, Congratulations to grandparents
Nancy and Gerry Plummer and great grandparents Carlton and Joan Plummer as
well.
Jean and John Webster have returned from New York where
Jean’s sister Roni was in need of double bypass surgery; Roni is reported to be
recuperating nicely. Kim (Webster) Godsey and her husband Michael are visiting
their daughter Grace at Elon University where she is a freshman and Stephen
Webster was recently in Mexico City judging a beauty contest.
On a sad note, long time Ocean Pointer Olympia Smith Tebalt
died last week at her home in Greenville, South Carolina. Olympia spent many
summers here at the Point with her family. Our condolences to Olympia’s mother
Mary, her husband Michael her four children Michael, Jackie, Jill, Joshua and
her brothers Charles, Floyd, Louis Robert and Leigh as well as her seven
grandchildren.
The “pumpkin people” are beginning to appear in East
Boothbay so we’ll look forward to witnessing the creative spirit of the
participants as the month of October progresses.
Have a great week!!
