It is amazing how quickly summer is passing; there are only
2 more weeks of activities at the Casino. The beginning of last week was rather
quiet, however, activity quickly came alive over the weekend thanks to the
Pancake Breakfast and the Lobster Bake. Thank you to the Hamblett Family for a
very successful Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning which was well attended and
thoroughly enjoyed by all. The Lobster Bake was fabulous on Saturday evening
thanks to Mike and Susan Anderson and Ginny Kern. We all gathered on the
Fuller’s lawn and feasted on a traditional Maine lobster bake while enjoying
the gorgeous sunset Thank you once again to Ted and Mary Fuller for allowing us
to hold the event on their property.
The Sunday softball game found Team Bertrand victorious once
again defeating Team Plummer 14-9. Charlie Carrick and Mike Hoster hit home
runs for the winning team while Kenny Ripley hit one for the Plummer team.
Several families enjoyed the Beach Family Picnic last Monday
evening at Grimes hosted by Maureen Driscoll and Liz Holland, thank you for
providing such a fun event for the Ocean Point families.
Please join us for a second Porch Party of the season on
Saturday August 8th beginning at 5:30, bring your own beverage and an appetizer
to share.
The Clamshell Open will be held earlier in the day so don’t
forget to sign up at the Casino. The entrance fee is $25.00, which includes
lunch and prizes. You are responsible for your own golf and cart fees, be at
the course no later than 7:30 for registration.
Rev. Charles R. Carrick, Chaplain at Wyoming Seminary in
Kingston, PA. will conduct Sunday services on August 9th at the
Wilson Chapel beginning at 9:30 A.M. His wife Jill will be celebrating a
special birthday on that day, happy birthday Jill.
The Ball game Grill will be held immediately following the
softball game on Sunday August 9th you are asked to bring a side
dish or salad to share, burgers and hot dogs are provided. As you recall the
last grill was rained out so let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather.
Grace Ryder recently celebrated a big birthday with all of
her family joining the weekend long celebration so happy birthday to you as
well Grace.
The Webster Family have enjoyed a busy summer with their family,
daughter Kim along with her husband Michael and daughters Ava and Grace from
St. Louis were her in July as was their son Stephen, his wife Theresa and
children Ethan and Nicole from Dallas. They all gathered for a family reunion
at Jean and John’s and then held a second reunion with extended family. Kim’s
college roommate came for a visit with her husband Dmitri and their sons Paul
and Michael.
Our condolences to the Slayton Family; Phil’s sister Jean
Slayton DeLong died last week at her home in North Attleboro, Ma. where a
memorial service was held. Rich Slayton flew in from Oregon to attend the
service along with his mom Jean.
The Activities Committee will be meeting this week to
formulate an activities calendar for next summer. Please send me your thoughts
and ideas for activities and of course we would love to hear from those who
want to chair an activity.
Ocean Point calendars are currently for sale from Kate Turpie
and Ginny Kern; Sue Goodrich is currently organizing calendar sales on the
website and that should be made available very soon.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great week!
