Ocean Point Column

While you are gazing out your window at 7 feet of snow and
giant icicles dangling from every part of your roof there is something so very comforting
in hearing from friends who are actually enjoying the winter weather. Dianne
Eakin is thoroughly enjoying her winter months in Florida where she is able to
get outside for some tennis and golf and being with Ocean Point friends. Along
with her out door activities she is busy singing in her church choir. Dianne
has some very exciting news regarding her nephew Rob Morse; Rob has just taken
a job with the New York Yankees in media relations. Rob is currently employed
with the Texas Rangers organization and is thrilled to be fulfilling a life
long dream of a career in baseball and joining the Yankees Rob is the son of
Dianne’s brother Denny. Denny, Rob and Rob’s mom Ellie spent many summers
renting at Ocean Point. We wish you great success in your new position Rob.
Connie Saidon enjoyed a week of skiing at Mammoth Lakes
California at the beginning of the month. Interestingly enough she requested
that we send her some snow, as that area of the country had not yet received
any. I’m sure that many would agree that we would be more than happy to
accommodate her request.
The Hamblett Family has been very busy these winter months.
Suzie travelled to Vancouver British Columbia in January to attend a floral
design seminar with a world-renowned designer. The designer’s niece is the
Consul General of Vancouver so Suzie was treated to some fabulous
accommodations while there. Suzie
and Pete recently had the opportunity to spend some time with Barb Newell as
the Newells are preparing to move to Portsmouth N.H. During the February vacation John and Barb Hamblett spent
time skiing in Utah while Leslie and D J vacationed in the Dominican Republic
with their family. Jennifer Parker and Andy Hamblett are preparing for Lacrosse
season, as Jennifer’s daughter Devon plays for Syracuse and Andy’s son Peter is
a member of the Ohio Wesleyan team. Good luck to both on a successful season.
I am saddened to report that Char Cassano passed away on
February 19th. Char and
Ed enjoyed many wonderful summers at their Ocean Point cottage with their
family and friends. Our condolences to her husband Ed and to Char’s son Jay Bennett,
daughter in law Maureen and grandchildren Kelsey and Brendan and to Char’s
daughters Dianne, Daryll, Dale and son Stephen. Char will certainly be
remembered for her great smile as well as her kind and gentle demeanor.
Have a great week!
