Happy New Year to everyone, I hope that your holidays were
as enjoyable as mine. Thanks for all your holiday cards, letters, emails and
good wishes. I am looking forward to the summer of 2015, as I’m sure you are as
well. I always feel that once Jan 1 passes we have turned the corner toward the
summer season.
The holiday season brought many Ocean Point families and
friends together. The Bertrand, Rush and Meagher family gathered together several
times during the holidays for birthday celebrations, Christmas and New Years
parties. Will and I spent Christmas day in Kennebunkport walking their
beautiful beach, 20 degrees warmer and you would have thought it was summer.
We also
celebrated with Senator Mike Rush as he was sworn in for a third term in the Massachusetts
Senate this past Wednesday, congratulations Mike.
Suzie and Pete Hambletts had an extremely busy month with
family and friends beginning with an overnight to Boothbay to celebrate Lincoln
Hamblett’s birthday and to attend Christmas services at the Congregational
Church. There were many familiar faces in attendance at the service. Next it
was on to a quick trip to see Leslie, DJ and their kids in Massachusetts and
then back home to celebrate Christmas with Jenny and Megan Stevens, the Parkers
and the John Hambletts. There were more birthday celebrations after Christmas,
Andy Hamblett on the 28th Holly Hornor on the 29th and
Jenny Stevens on the 30th. They gathered for dinner one evening at
the home of Ann Kern along with the Parkers and the Kern family and also
celebrated the season with neighbors Mary and Ted Fuller. Suzie enjoyed lunch
in Portland one day with Jenny and Paula Laverty.
Jean and John Webster spent their Christmas in So. Portland
with Melissa and Henry Bliss and their twins Sam and Owen, Melissa’s mom and
dad Sylvia and Neal Schroeder and brother Ken.
The Coltens and the Duns gathered for Christmas at Catherine
and Hugh Dun Rappaports home in Newton Ma.
Two very special Ocean Point girls were recently engaged
over the holiday, Congratulations to Jen Dana and Anna Marden, Jen is the
daughter of Robert and Cookie Dana and will be married in June of 2016 to Dave
Finch. Anna is the daughter of
Eric and Jen Marden and granddaughter of Bob and Scoop Marden. She is planning
a September 2015 wedding to Richard Adams of Eddington, Maine. Both girls are
planning an Ocean Point wedding.
Please help me welcome new Ocean Point residents John and
Kim Garrant of Raymond New Hampshire along with their sons Tim and Tanner. John
and Kim purchased Dr. Craig Baumm’s apartment overlooking Grimes Cove. Kim’ s
parents live at Farnham Point and Kim worked summers at the Ocean Point Inn
with John Hankinson and Kenny Schroeder,
Congratulations to Allen Johnson and Chip Griffen for their
annual participation in the Penguin Plunge on New Year’s Day. The Plunge
supports the second grade swimming program at the Y, a worthwhile way to begin
the New Year!
Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year, have a great week.
