Ocean Point Column Nov.13

Ocean Point Column

Maine has certainly had its share of early winter weather in the past two weeks including Ocean Point. In an email from Coco Webber recently she reports that Sunday the 2nd was quite stormy and the ball field had 3 inches of snow on it.  Her neighbor Bobby Bullard happened to be at the Point visiting and as he was leaving he had difficulty negotiating the turn by Ann Kern’s house and so he was forced to turn around and wait. Eventually he was able to head for home however the trip was difficult due to road conditions. Coco also mentioned that the Point had lost power for a couple of hours during the storm but fortunately was restored in time to watch the Patriots.

This past Tuesday was Veteran’s Day and so thank you to all those Veterans both past and present and especially to Ocean Point Veterans who are currently serving our country. When I last spoke with Judi Boyd Columbus Day weekend her son in law Chad Blanchette was awaiting orders to be deployed, thank you for your service and sacrifice. We will certainly keep Judi and Jim’s daughter Caitlin and granddaughter Audrey in our thoughts.
Ocean Pointer Mike Rush currently serves as Chair of the Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs in the Massachusetts Senate. Last year Mike and a colleague wrote a bill known as the Valor Act II to enhance benefits to the Massachusetts Veterans along with their families. The Governor signed the bill into law in the spring and presently Massachusetts leads the nation in Veteran’s benefits, something that Mike is extremely proud of. Mike, himself is a current member of the military serving in the Navy Reserve.

I understand that the proposed Cell tower issue is under review by the town. Tom McGonegal has information regarding this posted on the Blog. Thank you Tom for
your continued vigilance in keeping us informed of pertinent information regarding Ocean Point.

Have a great week!
