Ocean Point Column

It is certainly
most fitting that on our last weekend of the season Mother Nature provided us
with great weather. That memory definitely keeps you going all through winter.
Ocean Point was alive with cottage owners as well as visitors enjoying the
final official weekend and were kept busy with the Fall Foliage Fair at the
Railway the Pumpkin Fest in Damariscotta as well as closing for the season.
Congratulations and best wishes to Rylan Oakie and Brooks
Rankin on the announcement of their recent engagement. Rylan is the daughter of
Karen Krueger Oakie and granddaughter of Curt and Nancy Krueger.
Many Ocean Pointers have spent the fall months travelling.
Congratulations to Dick and Carole Palmer who are celebrating their 50th
wedding anniversary. Dick and Carole along with their daughters Erin and Lauren,
Erin’s partner Chris Kourey, Erin’s daughter Sophie and Carole’s sister Kathy
Graeter from Cincinnati rented a home in Pertius, France just east of
Marseilles. From there they took day trips throughout the region. Dick claims
Provence is especially beautiful in the fall.
Andy and Nancy Smith recently travelled to the Tuscan Region
of Italy and as Nancy states,” the food, the wine and the beauty of the country
are truly spectacular.” Andy as you may recall was our AD at the Casino for 20
years and they always make time to come back to visit Ocean Point friends a
part of each summer.
As I have mentioned several times in previous columns we
have so many talented individuals at Ocean Point ranging from art to writing to
sports and everything in between. So it comes as no surprise when I was
informed that Link Brown was recently inducted into the Thornton Academy Hall
of Fame in Saco. Link was the starting center on the basketball team that won
24 consecutive games in a 3-year span and 3 state championships. Julie and
Link’s son Chris and daughter in law Jeannie and grandchildren CJ and Lindsey were
all there to witness the happy and proud occasion. Congratulations Link!
Jean and John Webster had a very successful beekeeping
season yielding over 80 pounds of honey from the bees. They are currently
selling their honey at Orne’s Candy Store if you are interested in purchasing.
Please travel safely home from the holiday weekend with the
thought that we will be back at Ocean Point in just 6 short months. Don’t
forget to check out the OPCT web page as well as the blog for pertinent information
and some great photos and please send me your news.
Have a great week.
