Ocean Point Column
October 9,2014
By Maryellen Bertrand
With just one weekend left of the season unfortunately we
are officially in the countdown.
Just a reminder that seasonal water will be turned off beginning
Thursday October 16th.
Congratulations to Joe and Annarose Shea who were married
September 27th in Newport Rhode Island on what turned out to be one
of the best days of the season weather wise. Joe’s mom Addy describes it as
being picture perfect and they were excited to have many Ocean Pointers in
attendance to help celebrate. Addy and Gerry would like to thank all who sent
their best wishes on their happy occasion. Following the wedding Joe and Annarose
travelled to Florida for their honeymoon.
Jean and John Webster recently attended the Conservation
Fair at the Union Fairgrounds where they demonstrated their beekeeping skills.
Students from first to fourth grade learned about the life and importance of
bees to the environment. They were given the opportunity to ask questions and
to try on the veil and the gloves that beekeepers use.
Bob and Pat Landurand are also involved in sharing their
skills with grade school students. Pat and Bob teach ballroom dancing at the Y
to adults and recently brought in students from grades 5 to 8 to teach them the
basics of dance. Pat reports a very busy summer of entertaining guests.
The residents of East Boothbay have once again done a
fabulous job of creating their “pumpkin people” on their front lawns. They are fun
to view as you drive through the village and so creative. The annual Fall
Foliage Festival will be held this weekend; this is a great event to catch up
with many Ocean Pointers who are here for the Columbus holiday.
I hope to see many of you one final time over the weekend to
wish you a safe and healthy winter and of course a safe trip to you
destination.
Have a great week.
