Ocean Point Column Sept.18

Ocean Point Column

By Maryellen Bertrand

Each day that passes finds the Point a bit quieter as residents head back to winter homes. The weather continues to be spectacular although temperatures have dropped both during the day and at night.  If you are fortunate enough to be staying the water district has posted the seasonal water shutoff on their website; seasonal water will be shut off beginning at 7:00 A.M. on October 16.

Tish and Tom McGonegal recently had a wonderful visit from Tish’s brother John Doehner of Manchester, N.H. John was critically ill this past year but is now fortunate enough and healty enough to be able to visit and enjoy the beauty of Ocean Point. John and his family vacationed here at Ocean Point several summers and during those times he shared his love and passion for fishing with his neophews, the McGonegal boys. John inherited his fondness of fishing from Tish and John’s dad Frank Doehner,

Congratulations to Ocean Point authors, Hillary Hornor Boynton and Connie Sandon on the recent publications of their books. Hillary’s book is titled The Heal Your Gut Cookbook: Nutrient Dense Recipes for Intestinal Health Using the GAPS Diet. It is currently available on Amazon.com. Further information on her book will be forthcoming.
Connie Sandon’s book is titled Murder Survivor’s Handbook Real Life Stories, Tips and Resources. Connie’s release date for her book is September 25th.

We certainly have our share of incredibly talented people here at the Point.
Donald Demers was recently seen out on the rocks with a group of artist friends taking in the incredible scenery and painting and Corrine McIntyre was part of her painting group at Grimes Cove on that same day.
I recently stopped by Lou Landry’s workshop on Van Horn to view his beautiful wooden bowls and vases; they make great wedding gifts. I hope to be able to stop over to Brad Bett’s gallery also on Van Horn to view his display of wonderful paintings. The Ocean Point inn also has a great gift shop with many handmade items by Ann Smith which also make great gifts.
Ocean Point’s talented Chef Fiona Dunlap will be competing in the 3rd annual Claw Down on Thursday the 18th, good luck Fiona we are all rooting for you.
Tom McGonegal has featured many of our talented residents on the Blog, so thank you Tom.
Congratulations to Mike Finnegan and Trish Pendergast on their recent nuptials.

Enjoy the fabulous weather and have a great week.
