Ocean Point Column
July 24
By Maryellen Bertrand
It’s hard to believe that we have now completed our second
week of activities. Thanks to Donna Logan and her volunteers for another
successful food sale and a special thanks to all of you for your delicious
donations of food.
Thank you to Link Brown for another great Memorial Golf
Tournament, Winners of the Memorial Tournament are as follows: First Place
Cookie Dana, Dave Finch and Will and Maryellen Bertrand a.k.a.”The Dream Team”.
Their win was especially significant as
it was the first time in the history of the Memorial that the winning team was
coed. Second place went to Link Brown, Lanny Whitehouse, Robert Dana and Paul
Cass. Longest drive for the men was Dave Finch and for the women Bev Holt; Dave
won closest to the pin on #17 and Bev won closest to the pin on #15. We all
enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the deck after the tournament. Thanks to the
Boothbay Harbor Country Club staff for their assistance in making the
tournament so enjoyable. The Porch Party that evening was well attended with a
variety of great appetizers and good conversation, thanks to the Danas, Browns
and Whitehouses for a wonderful evening. Unfortunately the Sunday softball game
had to be cancelled due to lack of players and the grill was cancelled as well.
We hope to have the BBQ grill next Sunday, weather permitting,

Along with enjoying the great weather many here at the Point
are enjoying family reunions. The Websters recently gathered for their family
reunion and enjoyed feasting on the traditional lobsters and clams as well as
playing game after game of corn hole. John’s sister Susan and her husband Stu
Kestenbaum were in attendance as well as Stu’s son Isaac The day also included
a family photo on the porch and tee shirts with a special” crest” designed by
Susan and Isaac for the occasion.
My family will be gathered together next weekend for a
reunion. Best wishes and congratulations to my niece Katy Meagher and her
husband to be Bryan DiMare on their upcoming nuptials.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great week.
