Ocean Point Column, June 5, 2014

Ocean Point Column
June 5
By Maryellen Bertrand

Ocean Point experienced an influx of residents over the holiday weekend as many returned for the season, certainly a welcome site. Lanny and Leslie Whitehouse arrived May 15th for the season with their dog Buddy. Kippy and Chris Kipp are here and David and Alison Butterworth have also arrived for the season. They are looking forward to a visit from son David, daughter in law Croi and their grandchildren Zoey Ann and Callum in July. Other holiday weekend visitors included: Ginny Rush, Jimmy Rush and son Kevin, Emily and Joe McGonegal, Jack and Kathy Ford and their family, and Karen (Goodrich) and Stu Wales and their children. Billy Maltais stopped by for a brief visit. Bill has just retired from his job as a chef and is living in Littleton, N.H. He is the son of Maxie and Betty Maltais who owned the house “we love it” at Grimes Cove.  The Maltais Family will all be together later in the month for a reunion at Ocean Point. Mark and Cara Pond were here as well and they have very exciting news, they are about to become grandparents.  Daughter Ashley and her husband Rhett are expecting their first child in October.

Margaret (Merton) Earskin and her daughter Elizabeth will be travelling to Italy for 10 days with Elizabeth’s classmates from Windham High School. Margaret is very excited about her new job at Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook.
Jean and John Webster have just returned from a week’s trip to Sicily with good friends from Saugerties, N.Y. They stayed in Pozallo and visited Siracusa, Ragusa, Noto as well as several small fishing villages. Jean will be posting more information regarding their trip on her Facebook page.

Congratulations to Katie Kaminkow, daughter of Kim Krueger and granddaughter of Nancy and Kurt Krueger on her recent graduation from LIM College in Manhattan New York. Congratulations as well to Lindsey Marden, daughter of Eric and Jenny Marden and granddaughter of Bob and Scoop Marden on her recent graduation from The University of Maine. It was great to see Bob and Scoop who made a quick trip to the Point over the holiday weekend.

I am reprinting Julie Irmischer Bowes link to her website regarding her Ocean Point pendant and her beautiful collection of other jewelry as well; the address was incomplete Here is the corrected address to her website.
