As I write this column I am happy to proclaim that summer is
finally here and the weather is perfect. The first service at the Wilson Memorial
Chapel is Sunday June 29th at 9:30 A.M. Reverend Charles Carrick will conduct the

Minister. He currently is the Chaplain at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA
where he also teaches and coaches, Rev. Carrick will be baptizing the Carrick’s
2 grandnieces from Dover N.H. They are
the daughters of Carol McKay Pappas formally of Boothbay.
Activities will begin on Tuesday July 1st. The Horribles
Parade will be held on Saturday July 5th beginning at Grimes Cove,
Later that evening the Chicken Barbeque will take place with one seating at
6:30 P.M. Tickets will be available for sale at the Casino on June 28th
and June 29th from 8 A.M. to 12 noon and again on June 30th, July 1st
through the 3rd from 8-11 A.M, Please
bring your own cutlery and a salad, side dish or dessert. Check the Casino
bulletin board for the latest schedule updates and changes.
Maryellen Hare will begin her writing group on July 7th
at the Casino.
Suzie and Pete Hamblett had lunch recently with Ted and Mary
Fuller and Sally and Allan Johnson and enjoyed hearing that Ocean Point is
coming alive once again. Suzie has been laid up with a knee replacement; She is
feeling well and happy to have the surgery behind her. She will be here before
the 4th and is looking forward to putting Uncle Sam at the end of
the driveway for the 4th of July celebration.
Our little neighborhood is happy to see Frank DeGrand back
this summer looking fit and feeling fine. Nancy Ashcroft, son Will and friend
Peter Brown assisted Frank in his move back to the Point. Frank will be here
for an extended vacation and if you walk by I’m sure that you will see him partaking
in his favorite pastime, his daily routine of catching the rays in the
Adirondack chair.
I understand that Jim Brown will be celebrating his 90th
birthday shortly after his arrival at Ocean Point. Jim spent many summers
donating his time and talent assisting in all of the activities. Many of you
I’m sure learned how to play softball from Jim on Wednesday evenings. For many
years Jim organized the Horribles Parade and always made every child feel so
special. Happy Birthday Jim, enjoy your special day!
Jim and Kathy Dunklee are here enjoying the weather.
Unfortunately they will not be reopening the store this summer. Thank you Jim
and Kathy for providing us with such a wonderful convenience, you will be
missed.
Enjoy the weather and have a great week.
