There
is more Thanksgiving news this week from Jean and John Webster. They travelled
to St Louis to be with their daughter Kim, her husband Michael and their 2
daughters, Grace and Ava. Also joining them were Jean’s sister Roni from New
York. Jean states that the food was
flowing all day with plenty of leftovers. Earlier in the day John, Michael and
the girls attended their local Thanksgiving Day football game.
Thanks
to all of you who responded to my email regarding the snowy owl; many of you have seen one leisurely "hanging
around" Ocean Point. It was certainly fun to read everyone’s experience in
doing so as well as their various descriptions. Last winter we spotted one in
our backyard here at home; they are certainly fascinating to watch.
We
received an email recently from the Boothbay Harbor Country Club which included
pictures of the improvements that are being made to the course. They are
impressive and I recommend getting on their web site to view the pictures for
yourself if you have not seen them. It
looks to be a great golf season next year!
There
was also a recent article in the Register regarding the proposed construction
of a cell tower on Ocean Point. The town has approved the application and will
hold a public hearing on January 28 regarding this issue; I urge all who are
able to attend this meeting to do so, as this will impact not only Ocean Point
residents but also all other area residents as well.
Another
subject of importance to Ocean Point and the entire region is the possible
construction of wind turbines off Monhegan. I have received several emails from
folks with a reminder that the window for public comment on this issue is
closing December 20th. I am assuming that many area residents may be
unaware of this timeline, all information regarding the wind turbines and how
to make a comment by December 20th is on the Blog.
May
I also remind Ocean Pointers to check out the Ocean Point Blog on a regular
basis as Tom McGonegal keeps us all up to date with pertinent information
regarding Ocean Point and the surrounding area.
Happy
holiday shopping and have a great week!
