OP Column December 12
By Maryellen Bertrand
It was certainly great to hear from so many
Ocean Pointers regarding their Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.
John and Kelly Hankinson along with their children Audrey and Kate travelled to
sister Jill and husband Ken Pilon’s home in West Hartford Connecticut for the
holiday; Jill served 22 of her friends and family members. John, Kelly and the
girls then proceeded to brother Jeff’s house in Summit New Jersey. From there
they travelled by train to New York City and enjoyed seeing Grand Central Station,
Times Square and shopping. John reports that the girls loved the American Girl
and M & M stores. Kelly ran in to a co-worker on 5thAvenue. That must be
the street to accidentally bump into friends. On a recent visit to New York, Jim
and Doreen Dun along with Alec and his children and Catherine, Hugh and their
children had the same experience on 5th Avenue when they accidentally
ran into Maureen Driscoll and her friend Christine.
Doreen and Jim enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with
all of the family at Ocean Point; Alec and Kelly and their children Mali and
Liam and Catherine and Hugh and their children James, Julia and Linnea and had
a wonderful time.
There was a large gathering for Thanksgiving at
the home of Sally and Alan Johnson. Joining them for dinner were their daughter
Abby and husband John and their daughter Fiona and newlywed son Andrew and his wife
Erica. Also joining them for dinner were Joan and Jake Fischer, Link and Julie Brown,
Paul and Helene Cass. Dessert included The Dun Family, Coco, Chris and Peter
Webber and Chip, Denise, Betsy and Emily Griffin. Julie reported this news to
me so she hopes that she did not omit anyone. What a great OP reunion!
Another smaller Ocean Point Thanksgiving
reunion occurred in Denver, CO. hosted by Annie Fischer and boyfriend Matt with
guests Hannah Laverty and her boyfriend Rory both from L.A. and Chelea Stevens
and her boyfriend Tim. Annie is currently working at Denver Children’s Hospital
and was unable to come back East so she was thrilled to be joined by her good
Ocean Point friends.
Nancy and Fred Gale travelled to Connecticut to
be with George, Ginna, Jonathan and Luke for their Thanksgiving celebration.
Nancy writes that the both boys will be playing in a basketball league after
the New Year.
The McGonegal Family was all together this year with their
daughter in law Dannie’s family.
The Hamblett Family began their celebration with a touch football game with Dave, Sue and Sarah Kern as spectators. For dessert they all enjoyed Scoop’s hot fudge sauce. Then it was on to the traditional beanbag game.
The Hornors were all gathered at Hillary and
Nick Boynton’s home where they too play the traditional bean bag game that
dates back to 1914.
It sounds as though everyone thoroughly enjoyed
his or her holiday. It was also the first night of Hanukah; Happy Hanukah to
those who celebrate. It’s now on to the hustle and bustle of the Christmas
season and all of the activities that it entails.
Have a great week!
