OP Column May 29, 2014

Ocean Point Column
May 29
By Maryellen Bertrand

I begin this column on a sad note, William”Bill” Kaynor father of Kate Turpie passed away May 19 at the age of 99. Many of you may remember his visits to Ocean Point over the years with Kate’s mom .He thoroughly enjoyed Ocean Point and whenever you would meet him he always greeted you with a great smile. We send our condolences to Kate and her children and grandchildren on the loss of their beloved father and grandfather.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday June 7th at 2:00 for Fred McIntyre at the Wilson Memorial Chapel. A permanent website has been established in Fred’s honor at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.

On a happier note Julie Irmischer Bowes and her sister Krista Irmischer have just completed a major renovation project of their home, The Villa. Julie writes that the project began back in 2013 when they held a Tag Sale, which proved to be quite successful.  Julie and Krista donated all of the proceeds of that sale to the OPCT.

They also donated all of the clean landfill from underneath the house and the barn to their neighbors for various projects.

They employed the talented team of Larry Reynolds and Steve Fleck to restore the interior of the house and they are happy to announce that the restoration is complete; the vision of their parents Jeanne and Rudi Irmischer is now fulfilled.

Julie has created the “Ocean Point Pendant” and is currently accepting orders. The pendant is available in gold, silver or platinum. Pendants ordered by June 10 will be ready by mid July. A part of the proceeds will be generously donated to the OPCT. Please visit Julie’s website at http://www.JewelTreeLLC.com/OPpendant.html for more information on this item and her other incredible pieces of jewelry; her website is amazing.

The docks are now in and there are a couple of boats on moorings. Slowly but surely Ocean Point is coming alive with people. Joan Libby is here with Jan and John Todd. Pete and Barb Newell are here and report that Gus and Barbara are doing well. Roger, Lisa and Zach Slayton are here with new puppy Thea.

It was great to see Krista Irmischer out rollerblading around the Point. I’m sure there will be a lot more news to report after the holiday.

Have a great week.
