There are several updates that concern the Ocean Point Community that you may or may not be aware of. First of all I would like to thank the Boothbay Water District for their effort in getting the water turned on this past week. I am extremely happy, as I know you all are, that we can finally return to the Point for the season and just in time for the Fisherman’s Festival. So thank you from all of Ocean Point.

In this past week’s Register there was an article regarding the installation of a cell tower at a different location on Van Horn Road. Tom McGonegal has posted this article on the Blog so be sure to read the most recent update.

I was also saddened to learn in the Register of the death of Greg Bolster. Although Greg’s family did not reside on Ocean Point Greg was a constant presence at the Point back in his college days and beyond bartending at various establishments in and around Boothbay. He and his wife started his business Bolster Builders in Boothbay back in the 90’s. According to the Register there will be an obituary in next week’s paper. In the meantime our condolences go out to Greg’s wife Leslie, his 3 children, along with the rest of his family and his close friends.

On a happier note, Doug Eakin celebrated a milestone birthday recently. His mom Dianne was pleased to report that their celebration was a happy one with lots of great food. Happy Birthday, Doug. Dianne, like all of us, is eager to return to Ocean Point.

Next weekend April 24-27 Devon Parker will be participating in the ACC Division 1 Lacrosse Championship tournament to be held at Boston College. Devon plays for Syracuse and they are currently ranked NO. 1.in the nation, Good luck Devon.

News from the Country Club this week for the Ocean Point golf community was an update on the status of the course. Due to the weather and harsh winter, the changes being made to the golf course have been delayed and so the course will not be completed until August. The driving range will be open in May and the back nine will be ready for play at the end of June. This is, of course, disappointing but it will certainly be worth the wait when the changes are completed. We are currently working on rescheduling the Memorial and the Clamshell Tournaments thanks to Link Brown. Stay tuned for further updates.

I hope to see many of you at the Fisherman’s Festival. Have a great week.
