Ocean Point Column
February 6

There is nothing better to cure the “winter blues” than a
reunion with family. Betsy (Wilson) Roig recently had a reunion with her family
over the Martin Luther King weekend. She and her daughter Emily travelled to Massachusetts,
New Hampshire and Maine to visit with the Wilson/Kern family. First stop was Dave and Sue Kern’s home
where they picked up Sue Kern and headed for a quick visit to Boothbay to see
their brother Tom, and his family Cathy and Morgen Wilson in their new home.
From there they travelled to Bates College to see Caroline Kern.
Bates was having their Winter Festival and so they enjoyed
watching Caroline and her friends participate in the puddle jumping in the
middle of the campus. From there they headed to New Hampshire to Ann Kern’s for
a nice visit with John, Ted and Ginny Kern, Betsy’s daughter Emily was unable
to make it to Ocean Point last summer as she was working on her Master’s Degree
in Spanish at Middlebury College in Vermont so she was excited to see her
family nnd Maine. Of course they had to make a stop in Freeport to shop!
The McGonegal Family also had a reunion that extended over 2
weekends. They travelled to Vermont to help their son Mike celebrate his
birthday with friends and the following weekend got together to celebrate son
Joe’s milestone birthday as well as Emily’s birthday. It seems only yesterday
that Joe was running around the Point and marching in the Horribles Parade!
Happy Birthday to you all.
We’ve all heard so much regarding the Polar Vortex but Tish
suggested that maybe we should be wishing for a Tropical Vortex. She then
thought better of her idea but I think she is on to something; warmer weather
would be nice right now as three more storms are predicted for this week.
Have a great week.
