Snowy owl succumbs

I'm sad to report the passing of one of our small visiting Snowy Owls. She was found lying on the ground near three trees Wednesday morning. Animal Control was called and came to take her to Avian Haven, a wonderful wild bird rehabilitation center in Freedom. Sadly, the best efforts of caring people could not help this beautiful bird, who, they suspect, died of starvation. I don't know why that makes me feel better than a report that she died from eating a rodent with a belly full of d-con, but it does. Thanks to Doreen Dun for grabbing this parting photo.
